Основные задачи:

  1. Развитие навыков чтения и говорения на основе прочитанного текста.
  2. Ознакомление с генеалогическим древом королевской семьи.

Ход урока

I. Сообщение цели урока.

Today we are going to read about the places in London connected with the Royal Family. Then we’ll study the family tree of the British kings and queens who lives now.

II. Речевая разминка.

When you read the text about the Royal Family, you met a lot of Proper names. First of all let’s learn how to read them. Look at the screen. (Слайд №2) You can also find them in your textbooks ex. 18. p. 122

Listen and repeat the words after the speaker.

(В паузах учащиеся повторяют за диктором слова и переводят их на русский язык.)

Now read the words again one by one.

(Дети читают слова вслух по очереди.)

Open your textbooks, look through the text and read out the sentences with these words.

(Учащиеся находят в тексте и читают вслух предложения с данными именами собственными.)

III. Контроль домашнего задания. Тест по теме “Royal London”.

I want to check if you read the text attentively yesterday. Welcome to the quiz about the Royal Family. You may use your translations of the text and your background knowledge as well.

Now I’d like us to speak about places and people you have learnt from the text in details.

Open your books p.125 ex.20 . Look through the text again and answer the questions.

(Учащиеся просматривают текст и отвечают на вопросы учителя.)

1. What places in London are connected with the Crown?

Ответ: There are many places in London connected with the Crown. There royal palaces, royal parks, roads and streets where beautiful ceremonies are held.

2. Which building is the official residence of Queen Elizabeth II?

Ответ: The official residence of the Queen is Buckingham Palace which is the most important building in London. (Слайд 4) Buckingham Palace

3. Where are royal processions usually held in London?

Ответ: Royal processions usually are held along the Mall, a wide avenue in the centre of London.

4. How many royal parks are there in London? Can you name some of them? What can you say about them?

Ответ: There are ten royal parks in London: Hyde Park, Regent’s Park, St James’s Park, Green Park, Kensington Park and so on. They are open for public and free of charge. (Слайд 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10) Parks

5. What is it said that the Queen in Britain reigns but she doesn’t rules?

Ответ: Because the real power in the country belongs to the Parliament (the House of Lords and the House of Commons).(Опираясь на ранее изученный материал.)

6. Which of the famous British queens and kings can you name?

Ответ: In the history of Britain there were certain Kings and Queens whose names are specially remembered in the country and are well-known in the whole world: King Henry VIII, Queen Elizabeth I, Queen Elizabeth II, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth II.

Учитель : Let us talk about these Kings and Queens.

7. Why is King Henry VIII remembered in the county and in the whole world? Can you prove that he was a very important monarch?

Ответ: Most people remembered him only because he had six wives. But he was a very important monarch and did a lot of for the country. Under him Britain became independent of the Roman Catholic Church, it got richer and more powerful. (Слайд №11) Henry VIII.

Учитель: That’s really true. Henry VIII had 6 wives . They were Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Katherine Howard and Catherine Parr. They were not lucky. They died or were killed by Henry VIII. (Слайд 12, 13) Henry’s wives.

There is a little rhyme British kids learn to remember what happened to each of Henry’s wife:

“Divorced, beheaded, died,
Divorced, beheaded, survived.”

Shall we learn this rhyme too?

to divorce – разводиться, to behead – рубить голову, to survive – остаться в живых

Repeat the words after me. Now read the rhyme after me.

8. Why was Queen Elizabeth I remembered in the history of Britain?

Ответ: During Queen Elizabeth I England became very important in European politics and the country became very powerful. (Слайд 14) Elizabeth I.

9. You know that another strong Queen was Queen Victoria who came to the throne as young woman in 1837 and reigned until her death in 1901.She ruled the longest period in the English history, for 64 years! What do you know about her family life?

(Слайд 15, 16, 17) Victoria.

Ответ: She married a German Prince Albert, whom she loved very much, but he died at the age of 42. Queen Victoria had 9 children.

10. What places in London are connected with Queen Victoria?

Ответ: There is a monument in front of Buckingham Palace. (Слайд 18) Monument.

Учитель : You have just said that Queen Victoria and Prince Albert loved each other dearly.

And there are a lot of places in London that remind us of their love. For example: (Слайд № 18, 19, 20) Victoria and Albert

1. the Royal Albert Hall – a very large concert hall.
2. the Victoria and Albert museum – which has a rich collections of paintings and other works of art.
3. a monument to Prince Albert in front of the Albert Hall built by Queen Victoria.
4. a monument to Prince Albert in Kensington Park

11. Why do some people call Queen Victoria’s reign the “golden age” in the history of Britain?

Ответ: It was a period of science and culture progress. Или

(During her reign Britain became a rich industrial country with a developed trade, an empire with a lot of colonies.)

12. Who is on the British throne nowadays?

Ответ: Now Queen Elizabeth II is on the throne. (Слайд 21, 22) Elizabeth II.

b) Тренировка навыков чтения вслух (зв. задание 42)

Учитель: Find the final part of the text on p. 124. Now listen to the speaker and try to read it in the same manner.

  1. (Учащиеся слушают , а затем читают вслух в паузах часть текста Royal London.)
  2. Read the text in chain, sentence by sentence. (Учащиеся читают текст по цепочке.)

At home you must prepare the control reading of this part of the text.

V. Ознакомление с генеалогическим древом королевской семьи. (p. 127 ex. 24)

a) Установление родственных связей королевской семьи.

I want you to work in pairs. Look at the screen (or page 127 of the student’s book). You can see the family tree of the Windsors. First of all let’s read all the names correctly.

(Учащиеся читают имена хором за учителем.)

Now look and say how the members of the family are related. (Как они состоят в родственных связях.) Please, complete the sentences. You can write on your cards.

It’s high time to check up. Read the sentences one by one.

  1. Prince Henry is Lady Diana’s son.
  2. Princess Anne is the Queen mother’s granddaughter.
  3. Princess Margaret is the Queen mother’s daughter.
  4. The Queen is Princess Anne’s mother.
  5. Prince William is Prince Philip’s grandson.
  6. The Queen is the Princess Margaret’s sister.
  7. Prince Henry is Princess Beatrice’s cousin.
  8. Prince Andrew is Prince Edward’s brother.

b) Развитие навыков диалогической речи.

Let’s hold a competition and work in groups. We’ll divide into 2 teams. You have to find more information about the Royal family. One group will ask a question from the section “b” p.128 and the other will answer it. They you will change over. Don’t forget about word order in your questions?

1 Team: How many members are there in the Windsor family?

2 Team: There are 17 members in the Windsor family.

2 Team: Are all her children married?

1 Team: No, not all of her children are married. Prince Edward is not married.

1 Team: Who are they married to?

2 Team: Charles was married to Lady Diana.

2 Team: Charles was married to Lady Diana.

Ann is married to Captain Mark Phillips.

Andrew is married to Sarah Ferguson.

2 Team: How many grandchildren has the Queen got?

1 Team: The Queen has got 6 grandchildren.

1 Team: Who is the queen married to?

2 Team: The Queen is married to Prince Phillip, the Duke of Edinburgh.

2 Team: Has the Queen got any brothers or sisters?

1 Team: She had a sister Margaret. She died in 2002.

1 Team: Who is the Queen’s eldest child?

2 Team: The Queen’s eldest child is Prince Charles, Prince of Wales.

2 Team: Who is the youngest child?

1 Team: The youngest child is Prince Edward.

1 Team: Who are Prince William and Prince Henry’s parents?

2 Team: Their parents are Prince Charles and Princess Diana.

2 Team: Who can be the next monarch after Queen Elizabeth II?

1 Team: Prince Charles could be the next monarch after Queen Elizabeth II.

Учитель: They say that Prince William is even more popular with the British than Prince Charles (his father). Perhaps he could be the next monarch, who knows…

But our competition is over. The 1 Team has … points; 2 team has … points. So the1(2) Team is the winner. Или Our competition ended in a draw. My congratulations.
