Цель урока: развитие языковой компетенции учащихся через закрепление знаний по теме “Animals in Our World”.

Задачи:

  1. Закрепить и углубить знания, умения и навыки, приобретенные учащимися в рамках базового курса по учебнику “Enjoy English – 3” для 6-го класса под редакцией М.З. Биболетовой.
  2. Совершенствовать умения и навыки практического владения языком как средством общения по теме “Animals in our life”.
  3. Развивать творческую инициативу учащихся, их самостоятельность и активность.

Оснащение урока:

  • учебник “Enjoy English-3” Биболетовой М.З.;
  • книга для учителя к учебнику “Enjoy English-3”Биболетовой М. 3.;
  • магнитофон;
  • презентация к уроку, выполненная в Power Point;
  • тексты на чтение;
  • плакат с нарисованным лабиринтом.

1. Организационный момент.

Good morning children. I’m very glad to see you today at our lesson. How are you, Vika? How are you, Mila? And you, Nikita? Well, I’m fine, too.
Tell me, please. What do we do at the lessons of English? (read, translate, talk, listen). That’s right. And today we shall also read, talk, listen and write a little bit.
And now I want you to define the topic of the lesson. What shall we talk about? Look at the blackboard, please. Do you see the words? Can you read them? (Слайд 1). Make up one sentence and it will be the topic of our lesson. (Дети читают слова с доски “animals, world, our, in” и составляют предложение, которое является темой урока.) (Слайд 2).

2. Фонетическая разминка.

We shall train good sounds first. Please repeat the words after me. (Слайд 3)

I have two poems. (Учитель читает стихотворения, а дети хором повторяют.) (Слайд 4–5).

3. Введение в тему урока.

Today we are going to have an unusual lesson. I’ve got a letter from Barbara Grey. Do you remember Barbara Grey? Yes, she is a teacher of English from out textbook. And here is her letter. Let's read it and find out what she writes to us. (Слайд 6).

Hello, my dear children. How are you? Hope that you’re ok!
I know that you learn English and you work hard at it. And recently you’ve finished studying the topic about animals. I’d like to see how well you know this topic, so I send you some tasks. On your board you see a mystery labyrinth. If you manage to pass it successfully, you will get to the London Zoo and will be able to see who lives there. So the visit to the zoo will be your prize.

(Дети читают письмо Барбары Грей, переводят.)

Today you’ll take part in the competition. The aim of which is to determine the best knowledge of the animals.

You’ll have several tasks. For a right answer you’ll get a star. If your answer is wrong, you won’t get anything. At the end of the competition, you’ll count up all the stars you got and the team with the greatest number will be the winner of our competition.

4. Урок-игра.

1. The First Task. (Слайд 7–14).

Guess the Riddles:

  1. This animal lives in the forest. It’s neither big nor small. It likes to eat carrots and it is afraid of a fox and a wolf. This animal runs very fast. (a hare)
  2. This animal is very big. It is grey and sometimes white. It has a very long nose. In lives in India and Africa. It likes to eat leaves and grass. (an elephant)
  3. This animal lives at home or in the street. It’s a man’s friend. It can run, but can’t fly and climb. It is very clever and friendly. (a dog)
  4. This animal lives in the river or near the water. It is green. It can jump and swim, but it can neither run nor climb. (a frog)
  5. Gena is not a boy. He is big, long and green. He is very clever. It can swim. He has a friend Cheburashka. (a crocodile)
  6. This animal is red and sly. In likes hens, cocks, hares and ducks. It lives in the forest. (a fox)
  7. It is grey. It can run, jump and walk. It is very small. It likes bread and cheese. It lives in the house. (a mouse)
  8. This animal can be black, grey, white and red. In lives in the house. It can catch a grey mouse. It likes fish, meat and milk. It can run, jump, climb and walk. (a cat).

2. The Second Task. (Слайд 15).

Translate the proverbs about animals and give Russian equivalents

1. To kill two birds with one stone. 1. Кто рано встает, того удача ждет.
2. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. 2. Убить двух зайцев.
3. Every dog has his day. 3. Не сули журавля в небе, а дай синицу в руки
4. The early bird catches the worm. 4. Будет и на вашей улице праздник.
5. No bees, no honey. 5. В семье не без урода.
6. Curiosity killed a cat. 6. Без труда, не выловишь рыбку из пруда.
7. Every family has a black sheep. 7. Любопытной Варваре на базаре нос оторвали.

3. The Third Task. Find the known words. (Слайд 16).

On the blackboard you see the crossword. Your task is to find the hidden words.

4. The Fourth Task. (Слайд 17).

Now let’s see how well you can translate the words into English.

5. The Fifth Task. (Слайд 18).

Now. Look at the blackboard, please. You know that the animals can be wild, domestic and endangered. What’s the Russian for “wild, domestic and endangered”? That’s right. So, your task is to make the right sentence.

(Дети должны составить верное предложение.)

(an elephant, a duck, a rhino,a camel, a snake, a zebra, a horse, a fox, a bear, a cow, a whale, a rabbit, an eagle, a wolf, a dolphin, a giraffe, a hen, a monkey, a lion, a tiger, a shark) is a (wild, domestic, endangered) animal.

6. The Sixth Task. (Слайд 19)

The next task for you is to answer the questions.. Let’s see how well you know where different animals live.

  1. Where do ducks live?
  2. Where do elephants live?
  3. Where do giraffes live?
  4. Where do eagles live?
  5. Whre do pigs live?

7. The Seventh Task. (Слайд 20–22).

Teacher: “Do you know the poems and songs about animals?”

(The children sing the song “Baa-baa black sheep” and declaim the poems about animals.)

Little grey mouse, where is your house?

I can show you my flat, if you don’t tell the cat.

My flat has no door, I live under the floor,

I come out in the night, and go back when it is light.

Bow-wow, says the dog,
Mew, mew, says the cat,
Grunt, grunt, goes the hog,
And squeak goes the rat.
Tu-whu, says the owl,
Caw, caw, says the crow,
Quack, quack, says the duck,
And what cuckoos say you know.

There were two blackbirds,
Sitting on a hill,
The one named Jack,
The other named Jill;
Fly away, Jack!
Fly away, Jill!
Come again, Jack!
Come again, Jill!

8. The Eighth Task. (Слайд 23–24).

And this text is about London Zoo which we are going to visit at the end of our trip. Let’s read the text about it. (Дети читают текст о лондонском зоопарке и выполняют задание “fill in the missing words”.)

9. The Ninth Task.

Every Zoo has some rules. Here they are. (The signs are at the blackboard).

  • Please do not feed the animals!
  • Don't open the door of cage!
  • Don't drop litter on the floor!
  • Don't shout at the bear (hare, crocodile ....)!
  • Don't touch the lion's (fox's, tiger's ....) hair.

Read them and imagine your own signs. And this will be your hometask.

5. Подведение итогов.

Now let’s see which of you has the most of stars? So, you’re the winners.

And Barbara Grey has a surprise for you. Now you’ll visit London Zoo. (Детям предлагается просмотреть презентацию в Powerpoint, посвященную лондонскому зоопарку.)
