Hug the Earth (Слайд №3)

The earth is a garden
It’s a beautiful place.
For all living creatures,
For all the human race.
Helping Mother Earth.
We can peacefully roam.
We all deserve a place.
We can call our home.
And I would like to thank you Mother Earth
I like to see you dressed in green and blue
I want to be by you.

T.: We love our Motherland. We love its green fields and vast forests, high mountains, rivers and lakes.

But the protection of nature has become one of the most important problems today. Why?

Watch the video «Pollution: before and after...” about the environmental problems and then we’ll discuss them. (Слайд №4)

T.: You’ve seen how humans pollute our beautiful planet.  Wastes from factories, electric power stations, the chemical industry and heavy industry   are very dangerous. Fish die in lakes, rivers and seas; forest trees die too. Much of this dangerous waste goes into the air, and carried by winds for great distances. Many animals have become extinct now, some of the plants are seen only in  a  few places  of our polluted world.

That’s why the task of taking care of our environment is so important today.

T.: Have you, children, got the occasions in your life when these problems have already concerned you?

P-1: Yes, we have. We went to the seaside last summer. We were very surprised when we saw that the water was not blue but brown with rubbish floating in it.

P-2: We often hear reports on TV and radio that millions of tons of oil are released into the sea every year.  We can only imagine how many seabirds and animals die because of it. It is dangerous to human beings to.

P-3: The layer of ozone does not protect the Earth from harmful radiation any more, as there are a lot of growing ozone holes.  People will have to take measures because the dangerous rays get through the atmosphere, causing cancer and other diseases.

T.: Right you are, children, we must all strive for the clean environment.

5. Практика в чтении

T.: There are a lot of people around the world who think about the future of the planet. Read the text, answer the questions and then express your own opinion about the protection of nature.

“I think there are a lot of ways we can help to save the Earth. One way is to remember the three Rules. I save the plastic bags we get at the grocery store and use them again. I save plastic food containers. They make good sand and water toys.  Before I buy something, I ask myself the following questions, “Do I really need this? Is it recyclable? If I have to throw it away, will it harm the environment? I have a bird feeder that I fill by myself. I want to be the kid who saves the Earth”. (Слайд №5)

Questions (Слайд №6):
