1. Организационный момент. (5 мин.)

Stand up, good morning. I`m glad to see you. Sit down, please.

Today we are going to speak about Russian winter festivals.

Look at the blackboard (слайд №1) and listen to the song.(стр.104 упр.3) Give the main ideas of the following songs in short.

Open your copy book and write down the date.

In January we celebrate Christmas, Old new year and Epiphany.

Christmas:

Recently Russian people began to celebrate religious holiday again. What is special about this holiday in our country? At Christmas every one tells fortunes. At this time imagination has no limit. Practically everything is used for this purpose: shoes, rings, eggs, mirrors, candles etc.(слайд№7)

Old new year:

The next Russian winter festival is Old new year.

Now you are to complete the sentences and say what do people do on this festivals (слайд 8)

Singing songs is old tradition. Let`s try to sing one. It is divided into some parts. Each group has its own words( on sheets of papers). When you hear your parts of the song, stand up and sing.

Let`s speak about February

In late February we celebrate Shrovetide . It has deep roots. But nowadays people hardly remember about them, they just have a fun, say “good bye” to winter and welcome spring. (слайд №9)
