Вечная  тема – любовь  к Родине, святая  задача учителя – воспитание  патриотизма.

Простой, четко спланированный урок с использованием  традиционных (учебник, работа в группе) и информационно-коммуникационных   технологий (интернет, презентация PP) может стать опорой и отправной точкой для каждого учителя, позволяя ему проявить  собственную нравственно-патриотическую  позицию  и  педагогическую креативность.

Сочетание информации о местах и событиях, являющихся общенациональной гордостью России с данными  регионального  компонента,  включение в урок   поэзии  и  музыки,  делают данную разработку  полезной  учителям, работающим  по любой  программе  и  УМК, позволяя  действовать на основе своей методической  компетентности и технических условий, использовать   собственный  опыт и знания истории России и  местные достопримечательности  для воспитания патриотических  чувств,  любви  и гордости за свою  Родину.

Все приложения   могут быть использованы для ознакомления и применения в учебном процессе, так  как либо заимствованы из учебных пособий по английскому  языку, либо созданы автором на основе уже опубликованных   методических материалов.

Музыка М.И. Глинки, одного из самых патриотичных русских композиторов  облагораживает любую, самую краткую информацию о  России на любом языке.

Знать  достопримечательности и уважать  историю, природу и людей  родной страны и своей малой Родины и уметь  говорить  об этом на английском,  языке международного общения – еще одна возможность  дать учащимся, выпускникам,  шанс сконцентрироваться на положительных сторонах жизни России, вспомнить  ее славную историю, восхититься красотой ее природы, почувствовать гордость за ее людей и ответственность за ее будущее.

Урок был подготовлен для муниципального конкурса «Учитель  года-2013».

Цели урока:

• Обучающая: тренировать учащихся в построении краткого тематического высказывания.
• Развивающая: развивать навыки устной речи, фонематический слух и логическое мышление учащихся, их коммуникативные способности и умения  работать с поисковыми системами сети интернет.
• Воспитательная: воспитывать патриотизм и  положительное отношение к общечеловеческим ценностям: Родина, Человек, Природа, Труд, Образование.

Задачи урока:

• автоматизация изученных лексических единиц;
• совершенствование навыков создания тематической презентации Power Point;
• развитие навыков монологической речи в процессе демонстрации тематической презентации.

Оснащение урока: компьютеры  с доступом в Интернет, интерактивная доска, флеш-карты для каждой группы / пары учащихся, учебник,  таблицы для подготовки и оценки презентации. 

ХОД УРОКА

I. Warming up and Aiming

1.  –  Hello, ladies  and  gentlemen!  How are you? Healthy? Happy? Creative? –Great! Then we can start the work.  Today  I would  like  you to present your  creative  thoughts and clever ideas in an up-to-date  version, in other words I want you  to  make  a  GOOD  PRESENTATION.  And first of all, we have to make out some theoretical points:  (Give the students  the mind map  on the screen)
– firstly, what is a presentation? – It is a summary of  the information you are going to give;
– secondly, what do we need to make it? – the TOPIC!!! And the technical equipment;
– thirdly, what must we know to make a good presentation? – some kind of succession, the rules of making the presentation, what are they?  –  If you turn to your computers you’ll see the icon of my presentation. Open it, read and use while working on your own issue.  So, we have all the necessary equipment, but we don’t have the main point of our presentation – what kind of information are you going to present? – Choose it yourselves, please!

2. –  What will be the TOPIC of your work?  –  we have already talked about  several  wonders  of the world, now let’s turn to one more country and I hope you’ll easily guess what country I mean. It  is a multinational country, the winner  in the World War II, it is the largest country in the world! So, have you guessed?  Yes, let’s remember our own country and make a good presentation about some  wonders of  Russia  including  our region – Yamal.
– You can discuss the title of your presentation while working! (Wonderful Russia / The Land  of Wonders /  I Love You, Russia! /… ?

Will it be a difficult task? – I don’t think so, you know a lot about Russia, about Yamal  and  I  suppose you are really able to operate the computer, to surf the Internet  quickly and to make PP presentations, aren’t you?

II.  Arranging  the Work  Process. Instructions and Desired Results

1. So, to create our presentation  practically  we have to make up several  groups (4-5)  to make  and present only 2  slides – only 1 wonder of Russia – either a hand-made one or  a natural one and  the one of Yamal.  And the first  group to finish its work  will try to arrange all your slides into the complete presentation. The task of each group is to give the brief  information according to the rules of a Good Presentation (Appendix 1).
Come on,  find you  a  partner and take your seats in front of the computers, divide your roles for this work and – good luck!

2.  Well, in 10 minutes  you  are to have:
1) –2  slides  with  a picture or photos  with  2-3 sentences of shortest description  in each slide;
2) the  text  of  about  7-10  sentences about  the wonder being presented.   Try to make  your descriptions  expressive  using  adjectives  from  the Topical Vocabulary in your  text books (p. 168-170). Try  to  make  your  texts  grammatically refined using, for example,  Indirect Speech  and  Conditionals.  You can find more helpful information and cliches  in the folder  named “A Good  Presentation” on your  desktops. So, get down to work, please! 
3. (Пока учащиеся работают в группе – ищут и отбирают информацию, составляют план своего рассказа или записывают текст, учитель раздает каждой группе копию оценочной таблицы для последующей оценки мини-презентации (2 слайдов) каждой группы, кроме собственной. (Appendix 2)
Well, ladies and gentlemen, it’s  time  to  talk  about  wonders  of  Russia! Turn to the board, listen to your classmates very attentively and be rather strict but generous with marks!

III. Giving a Speech and Giving Marks
1. The representatives from each group tell about their slide:

– What it is, where it is situated, what kind of  “wonder” it is, how old it is, who created it, how beautiful, magnificent, memorable it is and so on. (Appendix 3)
All the rest  listen to their classmates and  value their work according to the Valuation Table.
Thank you very much for your  beautiful  pictures and  really patriotic  words about  our country! Your Valuation Tables will show all the results but I suppose we can applause to everyone having worked on this very presentation!   
Our lesson is going to its end and it’s time to make a summary of it:

IV. The Summary and Home task:

1. – What did we want  to do? – А good presentation about wonders of Russia!
– Have we managed it? – We have chosen one wonder for each group, found the information about it and the photos in the Internet.
– What was new, useful, amazing  for you? – …
– What mark would you give yourself for today’s work? Why? –

I believe, those who had a word  in front of our highly respected audience, deserve the best marks. In any way, thank  everybody  for the work and I hope, you’ll find  the opportunity to put  today’s information into practice!

2. Your home task will be to add one more slide to this presentation and  get  ready to present it in the next lesson.  You can also set the full text into each slide  and  send  the  presentation  to your foreign friends. I hope it will be interesting for them to learn that you really know and love our  country.

V. The Ending of the lesson

Fortunately, we  have a couple of  minutes left and I’d like to join you and add my own slide and  finish both our  presentation and the lesson with a poem taken from one of the English text-books (Appendix 4) (Учительможет (идолжен!)прочитатьстихотворениенаизусть).  I hope this beautiful and powerful piece of  music ( maybe you will recognize it!(from M.Glinka’s opera “Ruslan &Ludmila”) will help us feel the Power and Beauty of our Motherland (Appendix 5).
