Schools in Gret Britain

Dear Russian friends, I’m writing this letter from England. My name is Jane. I’m twelve. I go to school. It is a girls’ school. In our country boys and girls usually study together, but there are still schools where boys and girls study separately.

The teaching staff of our school is not very large. We have a headmistress, a deputy head, about twenty teachers and four hundred studentss. It is a comprehensive school, so there are not only academic subjects but students can also take accounting, typing, shorthand, nursing and housekeeping. We have classes five days a week, Monday to Friday. I get to school at 8.40. We have prayers at 8.50 and start our lessons at 9.30. We have five lessons in the morning: two before break and three after break. After lunch we have two more lessons. But we also have an extra hour to discuss our form matters with the form mistress. School usually ends at 3.40.

We learn such subjects as: English, French, German, Maths, History, Science, Geography, Needlework, Art, Drama, Physical Training, Music and Religious Instructions.
I think that is all about me. I hope to hear about you soon.

Please, write to me about your school. Do boys and girls study together? How many lessons are there every day? What subjects do you study in your school?

Keep in touch! Write me  soon.  Yours, Jane.
